You are going to another country to study. You would like to do a part-time job while you are studying, so you want to ask a friend who lives there for some help.

Write a letter to your friend. In your letter,

  • give details of your study plan
  • explain why you want to get a part-time job
  • suggest how your friend could help you find a job

Dear Maria,

I hope this finds you well. As I have told you, my course in Oxford University on “Treating children with dyslexia” is commencing Monday morning, February 18th, and my flight is a week before that, the coming Monday

I’m writing to you to see if you might be interested in giving me a part-time job in your famous local restaurant. My classes start at 9 every weekday and they usually finish around 5 p.m. I may not need to do so much studies in the afternoon because the course is a practical one and it involves talking and playing with children as well as monitoring them, leaving me with almost no homework once students are gone. I’m sure working in “Central Brew” can help me get a feel of the new culture and the language I have been practicing recently

Still, I really don’t want to push you to give me a job. If your restaurant doesn’t need me, I will really appreciate you pulling some strings to find me a job in another local restaurant

.Looking forward to seeing you soon

,Best wishes
